Sharman's getting married, and down at the nick they're taking bets on how long it's going to last. His new wife, Dawn (the ex-stripper), isn't going to settle for little woman status - she's got her eye on those mean streets.

Sharman's wedding day dawns with an emperor-sized hangover and a call from America. His old friend, Chris Kennedy-Sloane, has recommended him to a record company. They have a problem: letters have been arriving from England, from a rock star who wants his royalties. Trouble is, he's been dead for twenty years. Will Sharman investigate?

After a wedding that ends up with only a few arrests, Nick and his new wife - and now partner - Dawn, start work. And a trail that at first seems non-existent pretty soon becomes labyrinthine - and deadly, as they discover that the sleazy squalor of the seventies has become the malevolent corruption of the nineties.
